Double Winners at The Great Big Small Awards
We’re incredibly proud to share that Simplifying Cleaning Ltd has won both the Family Fortunes Award and Business of the Year at the Business Hive’s Great Big Small Awards 2026 in Grimsby.
A family business, through and through
Founded by James Cioni and Kelly Gibbs, Simplifying Cleaning has grown from an idea into a commercial cleaning company supporting businesses across Lincolnshire.
Family has been part of that journey from the beginning. Kelly’s mum was our first employee, and today, members of both founders’ families work within the business, alongside a team whose care and hard work have helped shape who we are.
Winning the Family Fortunes Award, sponsored by Grimsby Carpet Warehouse, meant a great deal to us.
Kelly said:
“Seeing our family and team come up with us to collect the award is something I’ll always remember. My mum was our first employee, and having her there, along with our children and the people who work so hard alongside us, made it really emotional. James and I started the business, but so many people have helped us get here.”
An unexpected second celebration
Winning one award was already more than we had expected. Being announced as Business of the Year was a huge surprise and a very proud moment for everyone at Simplifying Cleaning.
Behind that recognition are years of hands-on work: building relationships with clients, training our team, organising cover and making sure the standards we promise are delivered every day.
James said:
“When you’re busy running a business, you don’t always stop to appreciate how far you’ve come. That evening gave us a chance to do that. We’re proud of what we’ve built together, and we’re grateful to our team and clients for the part they’ve played. To receive Business of the Year in a room full of businesses we respect was something very special.”
Recognition for the whole team
Commercial cleaning often happens after people have gone home, with much of the work taking place quietly behind the scenes. These awards give us a lovely opportunity to celebrate the people doing that work.
From our cleaners on site to those helping with training, administration and last-minute cover, every contribution matters.
Kelly added:
“We want our team to feel proud of these awards too. They’re the people out there looking after our clients’ premises, putting their training into practice and making a difference every day. This is their achievement as much as ours.”
