What started as an idea on a day trip to Skegness has grown into a trusted, accredited, and values-driven commercial cleaning company.
In early 2020, Kelly began cleaning for a couple of elderly ladies, with the goal of slowly building a small cleaning business. The plan was for Kelly to be the lead cleaner, trainer and face of the team, while James would handle the paperwork and admin in the background.
We both invested all our savings, and decided to give it everything we had.
But just three months in, COVID-19 hit. The country went into lockdown (March 23, 2020), and like many new businesses, we found ourselves in an incredibly difficult position but we refused to give up.
We used that time to train, learn, and lay the foundations for what we wanted this business to become!
By 2021, we officially became a limited company, offering both domestic and commercial cleaning.
We were proud to become a preferred supplier for Sykes Cottages and began working in the holiday let sector.
In 2022, as restrictions lifted and business grew, and James joined Kelly and the cleaning team.
We became a truly hands on family business, supporting each other while expanding our client base. That same year, Sykes entrusted us with additional responsibilities, including property management for several of their holiday homes.
In 2023, our commercial cleaning side really took off. We completed CQC training, became knowledgeable in the National Cleanliness Standards , and built a strong reputation in the dental sector.
In 2024, we made the decision to step away from holiday homes to focus fully on commercial cleaning.
We welcomed an Area Supervisor and a Team Support/Training Cover Supervisor, and expanded operations across Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, and surrounding areas.

In 2025, we were proud to become BICS accredited, providing our own COSHH paperwork, and using GPS-tracking systems to ensure accurate logging, accountability, and peace of mind for our clients.

2026 has been a standout year for Simplifying Cleaning.
We’re proud to have been named a Small Business Sunday (SBS) Award winner, recognising the standards, consistency, and hard work our team delivers every day.
We’ve continued to grow, welcoming new local clients and strengthening our presence across the region.
As we expand, our focus remains the same, delivering reliable, high-quality cleaning with complete accountability.
